This technique is a method of exfoliation that consists of using a scalpel to gently scrape off the top layer of dulling dead skin cells and fine facial hair, in order to reveal a smoother, brighter complexion. Dermaplaning may be used synonymously with dermabrasion (not to be mistaken for microdermabrasion), if the provider feels it is necessary.
